Hi everyone.
First of all, I'd like to apologies for my lack of attentiveness to the server's needs over the month or so. It has been a mixture of end of year crunch and a need for some leisure time that has kept me away from you. I don't mince words when I say that I have had very little time, if any, to spare.
On to more pressing matters, I've seen the state of the server as it is at present, and I've spoken to many of you on a one to one basis about issues you've had with the server. These things have run the gamut of personal problems with other players, myself, moderator staff, lack of commitment from the mod team, over-zealousness of the mod team, issues with groups of players who disregard others. I'm going through the process of addressing every single complaint or comment I've received.
One of the main things I've heard is that there is a large lack of moderators available and very few players. For the most part it would seem that the fallout from the debacle from my previous post (Enough is Enough) has turned many players away from the server, whether it be due to the retcon destroying valuable time and effort sunk into story, or simply irritation due to the behaviour of some players. Whatever the reason, I still stand by my previous decision, though I recognise that the situation was simply no-win.
So, in regards to this I want to announce that I will be reshuffling the moderation team and promoting players I have observed that have the right attitudes towards play. There will be a screening process and more defined roles. I am also excited to announce that in the coming week or so there will be a new chapter in each races' story arc that should 1) Promote the server to new players, 2) Allow story to move forward and 3) Address imbalances that I have noted.
I will also be repealing the blanket rule stated in my previous post wherein players are expected to have utter loyalty to their race. While this is of course preferred encouraged and will still be a part of good server conduct, it is also recognisably stifling in regards to RP. To that end, no player should begin their character with the initial intent of destabilising the realm, but situations wherein betrayal is perhaps the last recourse left to a character, or comes about due to a conflict of loyalty, or any other reason should be allowed to be rp-able.
I will however state that players who betray their race, are exiled from the main community will have their gamemode changed to "Adventure Mode", which will remain attached to the player until their character dies, or is welcomed back into the fold through an act of contrition. This is not intended as a punishment, but rather a deterrent to simulate the hardship of being cast out from your people.
There will be more updates coming in the following weeks, but for now this is what I can confirm will be addressed. Please feel free to post any questions or suggestions below and I promise that they will be addressed.
Merry Christmas,
Mortifus.
