History
Galerattle comes from a little known family that has a long history of functioning as retainers and assistants to Noblemen and other important figures of The Empire. Trained from the age of 5, Galerattle was groomed specifically to serve as aid to the leaders of charter towns. He had many brief stints as an assistant, retainer, and enforcer to the leaders of various settlements. Eventually, he was picked up by the Merchants Guild, where he had his skills put to use by protecting and advising important merchants that had dealings in dangerous frontier lands, as well as furthering the agenda of The Guild in solo endeavors. The Guild eventually sent him to Southbridge, to make sure the town developed in a manner that was profitable to Humanity and The Guild.
Physical Traits, Abilities, and Knowledgeable Topics
Galerattle is 35 years old. He is a slim man, of moderate height, with a wiry frame. He has a weather worn face that is kept free of all but the faintest stubble, as well as moderate length brown hair constantly slicked back and out of his way. He wears a cloth covering over the lower part of his face.
He is well versed in handling a sword and bow, as combat prowess is sometimes required to protect the interests of his superiors. Diplomacy and compromise are also areas he is strong in, as his time spent serving the rich and powerful located in struggling towns exposed him to the best ways to handle people to avoid needless conflict. The construction of fortifications and other military structures also fall under his skill set, as his superiors often ordered him to lead and keep discipline among laborers constructing such things. He also knows how to craft basic arms and armor from smelted iron: it was a required topic in his training.
Agriculture and resource gathering is rather alien to him, however. His superiors always had people to do that for them, and rarely concerned themselves with such things outside of making sure they were getting done. Smelting minerals is something he has no knowledge in. Same with alchemy and magic, although he does know that they exist.
Personality
Galerattle is a very formal, yet amiable, man with a rather grandiose way of speaking thanks to his time spent around nobility. He is slow to take offense at personal insults: however, disrespect to his direct superiors is not taken lightly. He prefers to solve conflicts without violence, but will not hesitate to use force if the need arises. He cares not for personal honor or recognition.
He is extremely loyal to his direct superiors, and will rarely, if ever, take actions that conflict with their wishes. He has a habit of addressing those above him by their title, even if they request him to stop: it is an instinct drilled into him through his training.
While he does have a morale compass, things such as "ethics" and "morality" take a back seat to the orders and decrees of those he serves. He feels that it is not his place to disagree with his superiors, but rather to uphold their wishes: personal beliefs and preferences shall not interfere with this. It would take a truly abhorrent action with very little, if any, moral grey area to shake this belief.
Whom he considers his "direct superiors" may or may not be the Elders of Southbridge, although they are the town-specific authority that he answers to.
